Markham Marine Boat Delivery & Own Boat Tuition

Experienced, personal, professional

We provide a high quality boat delivery service, alongside personalised and tailored tuition services.

Our primary aim is to help you enjoy your boat and use of it.  We understand the importance of providing a relaxed and bespoke service, so that owners and their crews have the time and support to learn the skills and gain the experience they need to enjoy their boat.  Working in this way we can:

  • Deliver new boats, with or without owners, to new homes

  • Provide you with tuition on your boat, from preparing it for sea, berthing and mooring, to day sailing and longer passages

  • Show you how to carry out routine maintenance, such as engine servicing and winterising etc.

  • Provide you with advice and guidance on passage planning, navigation and running your boat

  • Take your boat to holiday destinations and return

  • Provide guidance on passage planning and night sailing

  • Provide preparation for Yachtmaster Coastal and Offshore exams

  • Help you prepare and show you what to do if you have machinery or boat system failure on passage

The best thing is to get in touch and ask, because we can probably help.

Protecting everyone's health and well-being is paramount and so like everyone, we are monitoring government advice and guidelines closely, alongside speaking regularly with our marina and port authority contacts.  We can therefore make sure our work is within the guidelines and safe for everybody.

Stay alert and safe, Chris.

Chris has sailed all types of boats with his family, from dinghies to canal barges.  He has built his experience cruising on mono and multi-hull vessels, whilst sailing with children and pets along the way.  Markham Marine Services also works with other qualified skippers and crew, who bring diverse skills such as marine surveying, engineering and trawler work, alongside boat handling and sailing skills.

Chris: 'I'm privileged to combine working with a wide range of interesting people, with my passion for boats, sailing and living on them. Over the years I have sailed, owned, refit and delivered numerous boats and have enjoyed the waters of the North Sea, Mediterranean, English Channel and Channel Islands, as well as our historic and beautiful inland waterways. During this time I've become RYA qualified from Sea Survival to Yachtmaster and never lost my interest in boats, or my keenness to share it.'

"I needed to sail my new boat 180nm to its new mooring in Hampshire and asked Chris to skipper the boat for this journey, with me as 1st mate and my brother for company.

I was impressed the minute Chris stepped onboard; safety first and  Chris intuitively gauged our abilities, evaluated the boat, spent time discussing the journey and our expectations and made us feel completely at ease and confident about the journey ahead.

The journey did not pass without its incidents although none of these were attributable to Chris!  I can sincerely say I learnt more in the few days sailing under Chris’ expertise than all my previous experiences combined.

So how do I sum up our experience? If you want a person who is an intelligent, knowledgeable sailor, who is practical, calm in a crisis (we had 1 or 2), funny and an absolute joy to sail with, I would recommend Chris.

Thank you Chris for such an excellent time, a steep learning curve with so many laughs."

Glen, L
